Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you for your continued support with keeping your child engaged and working hard in our Virtual Sixth Form, it really is appreciated.

As per the Government guidelines released last week regarding Year 12 students receiving face to face contact, we would like to share with you our plans to ensure that our students receive regular contact with their teachers in readiness for their final Year 13 examinations next year.

In addition to the daily lessons within our Virtual School, we will continue to be delivering live lessons to our Year 12 students through Microsoft Teams. Within these ‘live lessons’ students are able to see their teacher and the PowerPoint or specific resources being shared, and be able to discuss the work and ask questions verbally to ensure that they fully understand the knowledge being shared.

Further to this, many Year 12 students have also been assigned a mentor from the Senior Leadership Team who will have regular live meetings with them to check on their progress and offer support, advice and guidance. If your child has not been assigned a mentor and would like one, please do not hesitate to contact me and we can arrange this. However, all Year 12 students have already and will continued to be supported and contacted by the Sixth Form team through email, phone calls and live meetings.

We therefore ask that you continue to encourage your child to access these live lessons and support meetings, and ensure that they are dressed appropriately and access the work from a safe location. Our staff will record these live sessions for safeguarding purposes, and multiple staff members are part of each Team for further safeguarding of our students.

If you or your child does not feel comfortable using the visual aspect of these lessons, then they can of course just use the audio, but we hope that the face to face contact will give our students some normality to their education within our Virtual Sixth Form.
If you have questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours Sincerely,

Mrs A Gavin
Senior Assistant Vice Principal of Amethyst 6th
